Duties and taxes payable by sender or recipient?

Edited

When you entrust us with an export shipment, we systematically ask you to indicate whether you wish to take over payment of import duties and taxes.

The key is to determine before shipment whether you wish to charge your consignee for the return of your goods.

This decision is yours and depends on your commercial agreements with your recipient.

Two options:

  • You choose to pay the import duties and taxes: We will prepay them with the carrier and re-invoice you for the same amount on your next invoice. We can provide you with an estimate of the amount you'll be billed, simply click on the "Request duty and tax calculation" button.

  • You choose to leave import duties and taxes at your consignee's expense: If he has an account with the carrier you have selected, these charges will be applied to his invoice. If he does not have an account with the carrier you have selected, these charges will be claimed from him by the courier when your goods are delivered. The reason we ask you to choose who will be billed for these duties and taxes when preparing the shipping documents is because it's very complicated to make the change after the pickup has taken place.
